Consignments

Split the profits. You can elect to have Serendipity display and sell your merchandise in return for 50% of the sale proceeds. In effect, the item is donated to the shop which sets the price, length of offering, and disposition of article if not sold. It's an easy way to make some money while donating to a good cause. A complete list of consignment Terms and Conditions explains the details.

Intake forms are needed and must accompany all items for consignment. They may be picked up at the shop or downloaded and printed as PDF* files from this site. One form is for clothing only. Another form is for boxed items such as clothing accessories, antiques, artwork, holiday and home decorations, household, jewelry, linens, shoes, sporting goods, etc. And a third form is for furniture.

It's been shown that "upscale" clothing that is in style and in like-new condition sells the best. Popular brands that do well include: Talbots, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, Land's End, Lilly Pulitzer, LL Bean, Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie, Chico's, and Hannah Andersson. For consignment, we can not take discount brands because they have very little resale value. Decorative home accessories and classic furniure items also sell well.

Consigned clothing is accepted on a seasonal schedule. As is the case with donated merchandise, there also are consignment items that we do not accept.

Large furniture consignments are accepted by appointment. Please call 203 245-4731 any time the shop is open for details.

Furniture items such as dining room sets, as well as upscale clothing and antiques are particularly suitable for consignment
